Hello and welcome!! I am very pleased to announce that I am now a designer for Riley Blake Designs!!! This is beyond a dream come true. I’ve admired this amazing company’s work for as long as I can remember. And words cannot express the gratitude I feel at getting to join the ranks of so many incredible artists. It is truly an honor for me to introduce to you my very first collection. It will be featured on beautiful rayon challis and a 4-way stretch knit and available October 2020.
If you’re wondering about the name, Sonnet Dusk, I am happy to share with you my inspiration for it. While my husband was stationed with the US Air Force in the Mojave Desert, I did not let the arid environment keep me from gardening. In our little backyard, nestled between mountain ranges and stretches of nothing but Joshua Trees and wind turbines, I was able to grow my David Austin roses and dahlias, along with many other colorful flowers for the bees and butterflies to play in. I quickly learned that, with the extreme temperatures and sunlight in the daytime, the only way these flowers would thrive was if I watered them at an hour they were safer from those elements. So it became a regular habit for me to water them in the crepuscular light of dawn, often as the birds were chattering above me in the trees, and later, when the sun went down and the stars began to shine. This being the most poetic activity and the most lovely time of day, it seemed only natural to call what it inspired Sonnet Dusk.

I am so excited to get to sewing with these fabrics. It will be so much fun to see what my fellow sewists make with them. I know that I have a pair of Hudson Pants planned from the knit and a Wilder Gown out of the rayon. I would love to know what you’re planning to make. Please let me know in the comment section! And be sure to check out all of the designer apparel fabrics coming from Riley Blake Designs in October here. As always, thank you for your support and for stopping by!!!
