Finding a jacket pattern for a tiny five year old was a little tricky. I ended up using Vogue V9043 and heavily modifying it. I went with view A and shortened and curved the front pieces. I also lengthened and exaggerated the curve of the back.

The fabric was a navy bottom weight that I picked up at Joann. I omitted the lining in in the jacket as well as interfacing since the fabric was pretty stiff anyway. I ended up using bias to hem everything because I was having a hard time getting a nice curve pressing the stiff fabric.

I split and widened the sleeve caps so I could add a dart to put the feathers in. I pinched and hand stitched to make the 'inset' for the feathers.

This photo turned out a little blurry but I love it :)

For the skirt I ended up just drafting a kind of flared pencil with a high-low hem. It has an elastic waist. To finish off the look I ordered a pipe and pocket watch from Amazon. The black tights and shoes were from Target. We styled and sprayed her hair with color (earlier in the week we tried a wig but this looks better I think). I used a plum shadow on her eye and used a black liner with a little cat eye. For her lip color I used my birthday freebie I got from Sephora (Tarte tarteist lip paint in birthday suit), its a matte nude that leans a little lavender.

It was cold and windy this morning as we took the pictures!

This photo was taken earlier in the week with the wig. I used little hair chalk in it to get the blue streaks that Miss Peregrine has. You can see the pocket watch here too.

More sleeve detail :)

My daughter is super happy with her costume. We can't wait until trick or treat tonight!!
Happy Halloween!!!!
